Silay City, Negros Occidental — Department of Health (DOH) recommends banning videoke sessions until Christmas due to the high risk and possibility of transmission of the virus through droplets while singing.
"Nakita dito sa pag-aaral na ito na kapag ikaw ay kumakanta, dito ang pinakamataas na load ng virus na puwede mong ma-itransmit", DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said.
"We base our recommendations from science and evidence, sinasabi natin na hindi muna po natin mairerekumenda na itong videoke ay mabuksan", she added.
Instead of having videoke in crowded or public areas, the Department of Health Undersecretary suggests that if people cannot avoid the activity, they can do it with their families in comfort at their homes.
It was reported in ABS-CBN News last October 8, 2020, that Manila Mayor Isko Moreno signed the Ordinance No. 8688 banning the use of videoke, speaker, and other sound machines during day time (Monday to Saturday) starting from 7:00 am - 5:00 pm to prevent students who take online classes from being interrupted. Residents who will violate the ordinance will be fined 1,000-3,000 pesos.
